Yacyretá Hydroelectric Dam

Yacyretá means “place where the moon shines.”

This big dam makes electricity. It is 70 meters tall, 80 meters wide, and 816 meters long. That’s like a 20-story building covering 8 city blocks. Inside are turbines — big machines that use water to make energy.
