🏠 History of the Museum

The museum is inside a house built in 1874. It was founded on April 27, 1988, by the City Council. It was named after Governor Manuel Ignacio Lagraña, who led the province of Corrientes from 1862 to 1865. During his government, the city of Ituzaingó was created.

The building was once part of the Social Club, with a modern-style façade.

🧳 Collection and exhibits

The museum grew thanks to donations from local families, who shared old and valuable objects. It’s a great place to learn about the town’s past.

Inside, visitors can see what life in the countryside was like. The exhibits include:

  • Work tools
  • Kitchen items
  • Clothing
  • Hunting weapons
  • Objects from rural homes

There is also a section with carts, machines, and tools for working with cattle.

🧑‍🏫 Memory Museum

Next to the main museum is the “Memory Museum”, which honors important people from the city: founders, politicians, artists, and pioneer families. Visitors can see old objects, local legends and myths, and items once used by those people.

📚 Thematic Areas

The museum’s collection is divided into four areas:

  • Indigenous
  • Navigator
  • Religious
  • Everyday Life

Each section shows objects from the first people who lived in Ituzaingó. Many were donated or lent by families who kept them for years.

The visit is guided. The guide explains the meaning of each item and how it connects to local history. Each object teaches about daily life and shows how the town changed over time.
