Watch the Micro-Documentary Here

The micro-documentary was produced by the Directorate of Museums (Current Coordination of Education and Culture). The exhibited material is in the Archive and Conservation Area of the Coordination of Education and Culture of the Municipality.

The museum, which operates in a house built in 1874, was created on April 27, 1988, by Municipal Resolution, and it is named “Governor Manuel Ignacio Lagraña” in honor of the governor of the province of Corrientes between 1862 and 1865, under whose administration the law creating Ituzaingó was enacted. This building is an extension of the Social Club, designed with a modern facade, in keeping with its style. The museum has been receiving objects of immense historical and cultural value through the collaboration of traditional families, making it a must-visit for those who want to learn about part of the history of our town.

Its heritage represents a way of life that still unfolds a few kilometers from Ituzaingó. Its objects depict a series of activities that are carried out daily in the fields surrounding this city. It is organized in such a way that once you enter, it recreates some environments of the rural houses in Ituzaingó until you reach the courtyard where there are artifacts for plowing the land and working with livestock.

The museum preserves elements of rural life, such as work tools, kitchen utensils, hunting weapons, clothing, objects typical of a country house. There is a hall where the means of transportation used are displayed: carts, field machinery, objects for livestock classification, among others. Attached to this museum is the Memory Museum, which includes illustrious figures ranging from the founder to political, cultural members, and characteristic family groups of the first settlers. It contains objects from the time, expressions of myths and legends of the region, and items used by these figures.

This museum houses an invaluable collection of the entire history of Ituzaingó, distributed in four thematic areas: Indigenous - Navigator - Religious - Utilitarian. Each area has different objects from the main inhabitants of this city, who witnessed and were protagonists of the most important political, social, economic, and cultural events in its history. Neighbors conducted various interviews and captured objects that were donated or loaned by those who had preserved such pieces in the family nucleus. So much material was found that it was organized, and almost unintentionally, the “Manuel I. Lagraña” Museum was created. This exhibition recounts the past of Ituzaingó with simple objects. When entering the museum, you are immediately attended by a guide who, during the tour, recounts every detail of the history of the different objects found there. Each of them has an educational character and illustrates the evolution of a town. The museum is organized in such a way that, once accessed, it recreates some environments of the rural houses in Ituzaingó until reaching the courtyard where there are artifacts intended for plowing the land and working with cattle.
